Midwest Mike wrote an article earlier about the changing face of TV. Today I ran across a new development on that front – Zero TV Homes. What is that you ask? It’s simply a home that has decided to opt out of traditional cable or satellite programming.
It’s become quite a trend lately. So much so that in March ratings giant Nielsen indicated that they were going to begin covering this segment and issue ratings for the programming. If you think the trend won’t continue, you’re kidding yourself. There is an entire generation of twenty somethings that have never paid for cable.
Additionally, the picture above is the logo for the National Association of Broadcasters, which is having it’s annual meeting this week in Las Vegas. Word is, nothing strikes more fear into the hearts of the major networks than the trend away from traditional distribution of programming.
