Slow day today around the MWTVG offices (and by ‘offices’ I mean my couch) and an equally slow night on television as my normal Friday night standby GHOST ADVENTURES is airing their second clip show in a row. Grumble grumble. Happy to see that it looks like a brand new season of one of my guilty pleasures ANCIENT ALIENS started tonight. Full report forthcoming tomorrow.
But in the meantime, I am happy to report that AMC has officially renewed THE WALKING DEAD today for a full 4th season. Not like everybody didn’t see it coming from a mile away, but it’s nice to finally hear it formalized. In closely related news, THE WALKING DEAD’S current showrunner GLEN MAZZARA is parting ways with the show seemingly amicably, citing creative differences between him and AMC. This is after the messy public split from FRANK DARABONT in the middle of the first season. Hopefully they can secure a new showrunner that can be there for the long term. Mazzara is finishing out the back half of Season 3 before stepping down, so at least there will be a consistency of tone for the remainder of the season.
It makes me wonder what AMC is unhappy with in regards to Glen Mazzara’s leadership in the midst of an outstanding third season? We probably will never know, nor will we ever know what might have been. Oh well, as long as we are getting more of THE WALKING DEAD, I won’t concern myself with such silly things.
