Well it worked so well for the Kardashians so why not jump in to the family reality show business if you can? The Wahlberg family is apparently jumping on the bandwagon. There is going to be a new family reality show featuring the Wahlbergs centered around their family restaurant, Wahlburgers. The show will feature the three Wahlberg brothers, Donnie, Mark, the other brother who is not famous and their mom as they work their high-end burger restaurant aptly titled, Wahlburgers. Get it? Their name is Wahlberg and they sell burgers. It’s poetry.
The most famous of the Wahlbergs told People magazine that their show will be very different from the Kardashians.
“No, no. It’s very different. It’s very different. Nothing against them. They’ve been hugely successful. It’s just about building a family business. Uh, it’s just very different, very different.”
Ok fine. You are not going to be the Kardashians. My question is, what are we doing here? What is the point of this show? Didn’t we already have a show based on Wahlbergs life called Entourage? How many more rhetorical questions can I ask?
I’ll be interested to see what they do with this show. I would be willing to bet that the only times that Mark and Donnie have ever set foot in their restaurant was on opening day and on the days they are filming their show. Running a restaurant is not glamorous, it’s not fun, and it’s not easy. Those two guys are lending their famous names to the business to give something to their mom and their not famous brother to do so they don’t have to keep supporting them.
Look for a lot of harsh Boston accents and arguments over who wrote the last produce order because they are now 86 butter lettuce (there’s some real inside restaurant management humor for you there).
Wahlburgers is going to air on A&E. We do not yet have an air date but when we do, trust me, I will be here to let you know about it.
