Did you watch The Simpsons Futurama crossover last night? I did. It was on before the Bears started playing so I watched this before tuning in to the Bears debacle. Overall, I didn’t think it was bad. There was one thing they did in this episode though that I know I’m not the only one to see it.
The Simspons Futurama crossover opened an old wound for Futurama fans last night. Here is the scene. Be warned, if you are a Futurama fan, you will know exactly what this is and you are going to feel bad. I’m going to hide the picture behind the jump so if you don’t want to see it, don’t click more.
Ok if you are here, it means you want to know what the old wound was. Here it is:
And there it is. A reminder of the most painful episode in cartoon history. I have only seen that episode of Futurama 1 time. I will never watch it again. It is just too painful.
Now I do have a question. How did Panucci’s get to Springfield? Phillip J. Fry is from New York City. This was clearly just a stretch to get this scene in to this episode which is fine since I’m not going to be one to question cartoon logic and continuity. In The Simpsons movie, Flanders pointed out that Springfield had borders with Ohio, Maine, Nevada, and Kentucky. We know where Springfield is located now but even that fact doesn’t match up with previous statements so no, I won’t be the comic book guy and complain about continuity (even though it may seem that I am).
Other than this painful scene, what did you all think of the rest of the episode? To me, it reminded me that I hate the fact that Futurama got cancelled. I’m amazed that The Simpsons is still on the air when it hasn’t been funny in a long time yet Futurama which was consistently funny is not on the air.
