Glenn Howerton confirmed today that season 10 will be the last for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Season 9 begins airing this fall and the final season will air in 2014. If you don’t know this show, think of Seinfeld with even worse and even funnier people. It’s one of the funniest shows on TV and it’s one of my favorites. When asked if season 10 was in fact going to be it for Sunny, this is what Howerton had to say:
“Yes. There’s a certain point where you wear out your welcome and we don’t want to do that. We want to leave them wanting more. We spend a lot of time trying to find new lines to cross. We’re not trying to offend people or gross them out, but we’re looking to surprise them. I think we’re proud of what we’ve done so far, so it’s time to stop. I’m sure there are already a few people who are like “Jesus Christ is that show still on? Go away.””
I am sad to hear that the show will be ending but I agree with Howerton that 10 seasons will be more than enough and it’s way better to go out on top. Don’t drag on and on to where people are wishing the show would just end already (I’m looking at you Simpsons).
Season 9 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia begins airing on September 4 on FX’s new comedy network, FXX.
