Sad news today with the announcement that singer Joe Cocker has passed away after a battle with lung cancer.
Known for his distinctive voice, his connection to the TV world comes from the use of his version of With a Little Help From My Friends. The song was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon (it’s one of the last songs they actually wrote together) and was included on their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Joe Cocker sang a cover version of the song at Woodstock in 1968 (Jimmy Page was on guitar) and the song has been just as much identified as a Joe Cocker song as a Beatles song ever since.

The intro to The Wonder Years is one that all of us of a certain age remember. Whenever I hear this song, I think of this show.
