Retro Memories – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

This little gem was waiting for me on my front porch when I pulled into the driveway tonight:

The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: Complete Classic Series Collection!!

Probably the singular highlight of my formative Saturday mornings, I hadn’t watched an episode of Turtles for almost 20 years.  It was totally awesome to sit down with my daughter and son to watch through the first season which is comprised of only 5 episodes, albeit the most classic of classic Turtles.  It is obviously a product of the 80’s and essentially one big extended toy commercial, but seems to have stood the test of time as good television in 2012.  Or it’s just the tidal wave of nostalgia talking.

By the way, I must have missed the majority of the run of the seasons because I was floored to read there are 10 seasons and 193 episodes.  This will take a while to get through…

Who knew?  Uncle Phil from THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIRE was the voice for both Splinter and Shredder.  And at the time, TMNT was the longest running animated series ever, eventually topped by THE SIMPSONS

Maybe I should get THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS collection next?
