President’s Day

President's DaySo today is President’s Day.  Wikipedia has a long explanation of how the day has come into existence.  Basically it started back in 1879 to celebrate our nation’s first president.  Over time, it has changed to kind of a hybrid celebrating both Lincoln and Washington.  Most of the change has occurred in the last 30 years, shockingly brought on by advertisers.

What is my point?  Well, since the day has constantly evolved over time, I believe one more evolution would make this day perfect:

MOVE IT TO THE DAY AFTER THE SUPERBOWL

The Superbowl was roughly 2 weeks ago.  So it’s not like I’m asking for a big move here, just 14 days.  The Monday after the Superbowl is one of the toughest days of the year.  I just spent 6 hours with friends and family drinking and partying and now I have to go to work.  I’m not alone – nearly 108 million Americans watched the game.

So I’ve started a new petition to move President’s Day.  With your help, we can work together to help millions of hung over American’s not have to drag themselves out of bed and half ass it at work the next day.  Here is the link, it’s time for you to do your part.  Click the link and sign the petition.
