Netflix has set the premiere date for BoJack Horseman. What you read is not a typo and I’m not currently having a stroke. They really do have a series coming soon called BoJack Horseman. All 12 episodes of the first season will be released on Netflix on August 22.
Before you immediately dismiss it, you should know that BoJack Horseman stars Will Arnett and Aaron Paul. It is an adult themed animated series that will be the first animated series for Netflix.
Arnett stars in the series as BoJack, a former 90s TV show star who deal with personal problems with his human friend Todd (Aaron Paul) and his agent and former lover, who is a cat, Princess Caroline (Amy Sedaris). You might remember Sedaris from the movie Elf. She played the secretary. If you are a fan of comedy, you probably really know her from the absolutely outstanding Strangers with Candy which ran for two seasons on Comedy Central in ’99 and 2000 (one Stephen Colbert came from that show). I’m happy to see she is getting work. She’s way too funny to not be working.
Also in the cast are Paul F. Tompkins (funny comedian), and Alison Brie (Community). Not enough is known yet to know whether or not this show will be good but given the nature of the show, I’m not terribly optimistic. I like all of the people involved with the show so I’m certainly going to give it a chance. We’ve seen weird shows do well and we’ve seen human/animal animated shows (Brickleberry) that are terrible so who knows.
Netflix has released a teaser trailer to give us a glimpse of what this show might be about.
