One of the most famous commercials in the history of Chicago television recently got an update.
If you have lived in Chicago any time in the last 30 years, you have no doubt seen the famous commercial from that company at 710 E. Green in Bensenville near O’Hare, Victory Auto Wreckers.
The commercial has been running continuously, with limited changes, since 1985 up until last week when a new commercial was aired to replace the classic.
The new commercial is updated to let consumers know that there is a website that they can enter their car information in to schedule pick ups and all that. The old commercial was made before the internet so it just wasn’t able to communicate changes effectively to consumers. So while it’s sad to see a legend pass from the scene, it’s understandable. Time marches on and things have to change.
So without further ado, here is the new commercial from Victory Auto Wreckers:
New Victory Auto Wreckers Commercial
Ok that wasn’t great but that’s ok. These guys are running a salvage yard. They aren’t Microsoft. They don’t have billions of dollars. They are running a business that has been around for years. The new commercial is simple and to the point and does what it needs to do. I don’t think it will be iconic like the original, but how often can anyone create an iconic commercial?
For fans of the original, which was named one of our Chicago favorites, here it is in all it’s wide watch band and mullett goodness.
So what do you all think? Do you like the new commercial? Should they have stuck with the old? Be sure to let us know. You can tell us on our FB page.
