Recently, it was decided that I should get current on Nashville so that we could discuss it with our female fans (I’m not sure why I was chosen as I’m generally used more as a female repellant).
OK, so I just finished the 8th episode of season 1 and before I invest anymore time into this I have to ask this of the people further along in the show – is there anybody good on this show?
The breaking point for me in this episode is the scene where Juliette Barnes (played by Hayden Panettiere) was invited to dinner by her boyfriends God fearing parents. After dinner the mother tells her how she’s trash and that she shouldn’t expect things to work our with their son. Bitch please.
So even the God fearing parents can’t be trusted on this show? Who am I rooting for here?
To quickly recap, it would appear that Rayna Jaymes (played by Connie Britton) and her husband are headed for a divorce, Nashville politics appear about as ethical as Chicago’s, and there is soooo much country music playing in every episode. Why does a show about Nashville country music have to have so much country music?
Don’t tell me that I’m supposed to root for the golden haired Clare Bowen. You know what, stand up for yourself and have some self respect first. Oh, and quit acting so surprised when everyone screws you over. Maybe the third time it happened fine, but it’s been like 15 times now of her standing there confused and befuddled. Probably not the best advice for the audience, but grow a pair lady (I really have no idea why women don’t like me).
Season 1 is 21 episodes long so I have 13 to go. Who am I rooting for at this point again? As Bonnie Tyler once sang and it seems really appropriate for this show – I need a hero. At this point I’d settle for someone slightly North of pure evil.
