To write a blog you have to be an incredible narcissist. I’m not only an incredible narcissist, I’m a fantastic one. Because that is true, I feel that you all are waiting on pins and needles to find out who will get my votes for a People’s Choice Award. Trust me, I am aware of the heavy burden that I carry knowing so many people will base their votes, and their lives, on what I think and say. This is why I have really taken my time and spent about 10 entire minutes to run through the TV category of the People’s Choice Awards nominees for 2014 to cast my votes. Head inside and I’ll share my wisdom and guidance with all of you so you too can know just who you need to cast votes for in this year’s People’s Choice Awards.
You may or may not be familiar with The People’s Choice Awards. Judging from the ratings, I’d say that it’s more than likely that you are familiar in that you have heard of them, but you have never watched them. This year in an effort to entice people to watch the show, CBS has decided to have the stars of 2 Broke Girls host the 2014 show. I wrote about this decision and since you are all big fans of my work, I’m sure you know just how I feel about the hosts. I am a professional and that means I sometimes have to do things I don’t want to do so for you all, my fans, I’ll still be watching the show despite the incredible physical and emotional trauma I will be suffering. I love you all too much to deprive you of my wit and wisdom.
Anyway. There are three categories for the People’s Choice Awards. Movies, TV, and Music. I’ll just focus on TV here. After you read my votes, be sure to head over to the voting website so you can vote too. You are on your own for music and movies. I can’t guide you there. So, without further ado, here are my votes for the 2014 People’s Choice Awards:
Favorite Network TV Comedy:
Favorite Comedic TV Actor:
Jesse Tyler Ferguson
This was tough. I wouldn’t argue with a vote for Jim Parsons either. I think Neil Patrick Harris’ character has run it’s course and is not funny any more. He does the same thing all the time. Jim Parsons is nearly there but still funny. Jesse Tyler Ferguson has been consistently funny.
Favorite Comedic TV Actress:
Are you kidding me with the rest of the list? Who do the producers of Glee pay off to get their people on here? Do people really think that show is still good? There is no way I would vote for Zooey Deschanal in anything other than most annoying female on TV and I’ve never watched Mike and Molly so by default, Cuoco gets my vote even though she is by far the least funny thing on that show. Can you guess from her picture what her real talent is?
Favorite Network TV Drama:
The Good Wife
I voted for this one because I just saw an episode a couple of weeks ago and I have not seen any of the other nominees. This category should really just be called “network shows that only women watch.”
Favorite Dramatic TV Actor:
Person of Interest is a great show. I don’t think that women are watching it (other than my wife) so of course it’s not going to get nominated for an award. It’s not Grey’s Anatomy dumb so it won’t be terribly appealing to most of America.
Favorite Dramatic TV Actress:
Favorite Actor in a New TV Series:
It was a toss up between Williams from The Crazy Ones and Andy Samberg from Brooklyn 99. I didn’t end up voting for Samberg because I think the real comedic genius of that show is Andre Braugher who is not nominated showing again just how dumb the people who do the nominations are. Williams has actually been very good on his show and I enjoy it quite a bit. I’m glad to see him back and doing well. It’s a stark contrast to Michael J. Fox who is just awful.
Favorite Actress in a New TV Series:
What an incredibly weak category. Seriously. Who does these nominations? How does Chelsea Peretti from Brooklyn 99 not get nominated? From who was nominated, Rebel Wilson is the best of the list. Her show, Super Fun Night isn’t bad but it’s going to get cancelled. Sara Michelle Gellar is nominated and her nomination alone is enough to make me question this entire process. She could possibly be the worst actor working in network television today. Compare her straight man to Robin Williams to Andre Braugher’s straight man to Andy Samberg and you’ll see just how little talent she has. She is painful. I vote for Rebel Wilson by default because I won’t vote for any of the other nominees.
Favorite TV Crime Drama:
I don’t have anything nice to say about any of the other shows. I’m surprised at what was nominated but I guess there aren’t really all that many TV crime dramas out there. I don’t watch any of the other shows but I have seen lots of Castle. My wife and daughter love this show so I’ll give it my vote.
Favorite Competition TV Show:
All of the other shows on this list are either on the verge of getting cancelled or are Dancing with the Stars and are awful. I enjoy Masterchef but the one that should have been here was Masterchef Junior. That show just wrapped up and it was amazing. I can’t wait for next season.
