I know that we never talk about sports around here even though sports are on TV, but I want to break with that tradition tonight. As a Chicagoan and life-long Cubs fan, I would be remiss if I didn’t mark the 25th anniversary of the first night game at Wrigley Field. 8/8/88.
You may remember (or you may not) that the first game was only started on that date. The game was rained out however so the game was not official. On the next night, Midwest Mo, myself, and one of our other brothers were in attendance at the first official night game at Wrigley Field. I know, it’s a technicality, but it’s one I’ve held on to for the last 25 years.
Enjoy a classic TV clip from 8/8/88 and take a walk down memory lane with Harry Caray. Let there be lights!
A bonus for all you Cubs fans out there. Do they still play the blues in Chicago?
And the greatest team song in Chicago. Go Cubs Go!
