King & Maxwell – A Fun Summer Show

As I am basically the only writer who covers the typical TV shows at MWTVG, I know you are sitting on pins and needles awaiting my review of King & Maxwell.

And the verdict?  I like it.

Why you come to our site is we give you the Midwestern take on all things Hollyweird.  If you just read the mainstream reviews, like USA Today calling the show mediocre or who calls it formulaic you might miss out on a decent Summer offering.

All the other reviews miss the point of Summer shows.  Look, we are all busy and Summer shows need to be light and fun (unlike me – heavy and grumpy).  This show fits that bill perfectly.

I’ve watched the first 2 episodes of the show and a couple of things stand out as to why this show is pretty good.  Jon Tenney is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors on TV.  I liked him on The Closer.  He’s more of the focus on this show and he’s good.

They also added an autistic/asperger type character to the story line played by Ryan Hurst from Sons of Anarchy.  If Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang has taught us anything, it’s that asperger’s is funny.

It airs on Monday’s at 9pm central time on TNT.  I’m not saying it’s the greatest show on TV.  I am saying it fits the bill as a fun Summer show.
