Snickers has a long history of funny commercials. They’ve had Snickers Batman, and the Chefs spelling error that are both very funny commercials. Snickers has been running the You’re not You When You’re Hungry campaign for a while now and most of the commercials are pretty funny. The ad campaign has brought out all kinds of stars for these commercials and now, Snickers has gone overseas to bring back a big star from Japan. This is the Godzilla Snickers commercial:
Godzilla Snickers Commercial
Nice job Snickers. This is a pretty good example of doing some clever cross-promotion while still staying true to your own brand. If they wanted to take this to the next level, they should have included another famous dinosaur. It would have been great to have Barney as the not-hungry lizard and then show Godzilla as what Barney turns in to when he gets hungry. Snickers, if you do that sequel, make sure I get the credit for the idea. I don’t hand out gold like that for free baby.
They did this commercial to advertise for a new Godzilla movie that is coming in May. This Godzilla movie stars Bryan Cranston instead of Matthew Broderick so already they are ahead of the game. The 1998 movie with Broderick was awful so they can only improve from there really. Having one of my favorite actors, Ken Watanabe, in the cast is also a big plus.
Godzilla the movie opens May 16.
