FX Renews The League for 5th Season

the leagueGreat news for people who love things that are funny (and we know our discerning readers love things that are funny).  FX has renewed The League for a 5th season!

The network has ordered 13 episodes for the next season which will air starting in fall of 2013.

While I’m upset that we will have to wait so long for the next season, I am happy that we are having a next season.  The show has been gaining in popularity and has reached the point where they have 1.6 million viewers weekly and has even gotten popular with the NFL.  Several NFL stars have shown up in episodes this season and the show was given exclusive access to the Dallas Cowboys training camp for the premiere episode of season 4.

This is one of my favorite shows on TV and if you aren’t watching it, you should start.  While it started off being heavily about fantasy football, they quickly got away from that formula and instead this show is now an ensemble comedy about a group of friends who sometimes talk about football.

As an added bonus, the show also stars Katie Aselton, who I have named one of TV’s hottest women, and one of TV’s hottest moms.  If you don’t want to watch the show for any other reason, she is enough.  Trust me.

The show is set in Chicago as well so as MWTVG’s, we are happy to promote any shows that feature the mid-west (well when warranted because we won’t just like a show because it’s set in Chicago, I’m looking at you Chicago Fire).

If you need to catch up, seasons 1 – 3 are available on Netflix.  Do yourself a favor and catch up to this show.  You will not be disappointed.  The season 4 finale will air tonight with 2 new episodes airing back to back starting at 9:30 on FX.
