Drunk History

drunk historyOne of my duties as a professional TV writer is to inform the masses of shows that I deem to be acceptable for viewing.  It’s a solemn duty and one I take very seriously which leads me to this very important recommendation, Drunk History on Comedy Central.  Holy cow this show is hilarious and if you are a fan of things that are funny (I know that many of you aren’t), then you simply must be watching this show.

Drunk History is based on the web series that used to run on Funny or Die created by Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner.  The premise?  A drunken narrator tells a story from history as famous celebrities act out the story being told by the narrator.  As simple as this sounds, it is hysterical.  First, the stories being told are partly accurate but only accurate in as much of what someone might remember from 10th grade U.S. History with Mr. Lohrke.  Some of it is right and some of it just isn’t.  The person telling the story is drunk off their ass though so you have to cut them some slack.

What adds the true comedy element to this show is the reenactments.  Some of the biggest names in comedy have shown up on this show to be reenactors and watching them act out what the drunk narrator is talking about (while in their period costumes as well) is just plain funny.

Here are some clips from the show and from the web series to help give you a better idea how funny this show is:

Drunk History airs on Comedy Central Tuesdays at 9:00.  I highly recommend this show (again, only if you like things that are funny).
