Since I’ve been telling secrets around here, and catharsis feels good, I’m going to let you in on another one. I am a fan of the show DON’T TRUST THE B____ IN APT 23. I think this show would fall in to the category that MIDWEST MO calls, Shows the ladies like, but I am still a fan.
The show airs on ABC and is a comedy about a girl named June (Dreama Walker) who moves to NYC for her dream job that she finds out on her first day of work no longer exists. She has to move in with con-artist Chloe (Krysten Ritter trust me, follow that link) who after trying to con June, figures out that they should be friends and not a criminal/victim pair.
The best part of this show is the supporting cast. The show suffers from a malignant (I was going to say raging but I’ve used that one so much so I changed it up here…and that ladies and gentlemen, is what a professional does) case of TMS being that the supporting cast is far funnier than the supposed star.
One of the funniest parts of this show is James Van Der Beek. Yes, I said one of the funniest parts of the show is James Van Der Beek. Dawson. He’s funny. He plays himself on this show and he is actually very funny. He plays a self-absorbed narcissist (is he a MWTVG? Is that why I think he’s funny? Because he is me with better abs?) who loves being the center of attention and loves to continue talking about DAWSON’S CREEK. Here he is talking about how much he likes to make fun of himself:
Between he and Krysten Ritter, they could really have their own show. The two of them are very funny. On Tonight’s episode, Chloe pretends to be the editor of People Magazine so she can get James selected as People’s Sexiest Man Alive (again, the parallels between Van Der Beek and myself are stunning). What Chloe does at People and James’s (yes, I’m right with that apostrophe, remember?) narcissistic need to be thought of as sexy and his response to Chloe’s work are hilarious.
If you are not watching this show, and judging from the ratings you are not, you should be. Of all the garbage on TV, this is something that you can spend 30 minutes on and not be wasting your time.
