When Kate McKinnon was first brought to Saturday Night Live, I was not a fan. I thought she was there to check a political box for the show trying to make the cast more diverse. I could not have been more wrong about her.
Over the years that she has been on the show, she has shown herself to be one of the most talented performers in the cast. She has a versatility that hasn’t been seen since the likes of Ferrell or Hader. She is brilliantly funny. She can carry a sketch or she can be a strong supporter in a bit role. There is nothing she can’t do.
I’ve got one of my favorite sketches from last night’s episode which brings us something we don’t see too often any more and something pretty rare for those involved. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, or Bobby Moynihan ever break character before. They certainly did in this sketch. McKinnon was killing them. Everyone was having a hard time getting through this hysterical sketch.
Close Encounter – SNL
That is one of the funnier scenes I’ve seen this season and this season has been pretty strong. I’ve really been impressed by Kate McKinnon and I’m sure I’m not alone. She is starring in the upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters with the female busters. I don’t have high hopes for that movie, but having Kate involved shows she is a rising star. It won’t be long before we see her in even more projects. Saturday Night Live is not her final landing spot by a long shot.
If you watched last night’s episode, what did you think?
If you didn’t, what did you think of this sketch? Be sure to let us know on our Facebook page or you can send us a tweet at @midwesttvguys. We’d love to hear from you. From anyone really. I can’t believe that all 10 of our fans are so busy they can’t even tell us, “hey, you guys suck.”
