Clorox Thinks Men are Morons

I’ve written before about how TV portrays men and dads. In case you haven’t read my thoughts I’ll tell you, TV thinks if you are male you are an idiot. There are some commercials running from Clorox that highlight this problem and show that Clorox thinks men are morons. Here are two examples:

In both commercials, the poor wife/mom is shown coming home to something stupid her husband or in the 2nd one, her dad, is doing that she now has to clean up after. In both cases, seriously how stupid do these guys have to be?

Why is the guy scaling a fish on the kitchen counter? Are we to believe that he caught that fish and that he is cleaning and scaling it at home? What kind of an idiot would do that?

How about the most egregious one? The second commercial. This one really makes me mad. Am I to believe that this guy doesn’t know that raw chicken is dangerous? I don’t buy that for a second. Even if I believe that he doesn’t know raw chicken is dangerous, he still is a man and he knows that it’s food and you don’t play with your food. He would never be so wasteful.

I’ve been told by advertising people that women are the primary decision makers when it comes to most products. That is why commercials are aimed at them. If this is true then wow. We have a real problem in this country. Apparently every woman out there thinks every man in their life is an idiot. Is that what sells products? Do women watch a commercial like these Clorox commercials and think “yea, my husband is a moron. Also, when I go to the store I’ve got to get some more Clorox wipes”?

Well I’ve got to get going. My wife isn’t home today and I just don’t know what to do. I’m a bit cold so I think I’ll start a fire on the living room floor for heat.

  1. Am I to believe the relatively hot blond in the first commercial is married to one of the cavemen from the Geico commercials?
