Ryan Kwanten in “Truth In Journalism”

August 1, 2013 // 1 Comment

Let’s file this one in the “Awesome” category… ADI SHANKAR and JOE LYNCH bring another short film in Shankar’s small series (at least so far) of superhero-flavored short films he lovingly calls his “Bootleg Universe”.  He first brought the 2012 Punisher short “Dirty Laundry” re-starring THOMAS JANE in the role he was meant for, now RYAN KWANTEN stars in the second short also dedicated to a famous comic book character.  Which one? ...Click for More

Arrested Development Will Be Back

July 27, 2013 // 0 Comments

Mitchell Hurwitz has confirmed that Arrested Development will be back.  He was asked during a Q&A session at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal whether the show would return and he answered simply, “definitely.” Hurwitz went on to say that he is unsure about whether he will do another season of Arrested Development or whether they will return in a movie.  He did say that whatever he does, he will be bringing the entire cast back together all at once (a recognition of ...Click for More

July 22, 2013 // 0 Comments

Remember back in 2011 when Netflix announced a price increase and most of the world lost their minds?  Netflix said they needed to change their price structure to be in a better position for big plans they had for the future.  Well now that we have gotten a taste of those future plans, how many of you who complained would like to take it back?  After their recent history making Emmy nominations, we hear more plans from them today showing that Netflix is a full fledged TV studio. Netflix has ...Click for More

Netflix Receives Emmy Nominations

July 18, 2013 // 2 Comments

Netflix has broken ground as the first company to receive Emmy nominations for an online only show.  The incredibly outstanding Kevin Spacey drama House of Cards has received 9 nominations from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Arrested Development received 3 nominations (including 1 for Jason Bateman in the lead actor category).  Hemlock Grove got in the game with 2 nominations of their own bringing the total number of Emmy nominations for Netflix to 14.  That is pretty ...Click for More

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

July 10, 2013 // 2 Comments

Add this to the list of things I had no idea existed until yesterday. I might be best known on MWTVG for my complete rejection of all modern sitcoms, and it’s not just because I’m some sort of fuddy duddy… there’s actually a specific reason for it.  One of my all-time favorite shows is SEINFELD, which massively pioneered much of what we see in sitcoms today and is nothing but copied over and over and over ad nauseaum.  As far as I’m concerned, once you’ve ...Click for More

The Hollywood Reporter recently sat down with NETFLIX’S TED SARANDOS and CINDY HOLLAND, the Chief Content Officer and his Vice President of Original Programming for an interesting and insightful look behind the curtain into NETFLIX’S world of original content. The entire three pages are a good read for everything from status of current shows to future plans as well as some interesting analytics they use to benchmark popularity and renewal decisions.  One gleaming little nugget ...Click for More

Keeping it Classy: Zombieland Writer Blames Fans

May 17, 2013 // 0 Comments

Writer/Producer RHETT REESE tweetered on Twitter last night to (I don’t use Twitter, so the syntax is foreign to me) regarding the cancellation of the ZOMBIELAND series by Amazon.  How does a filmmaker take a bad situation and make it worse?  Call out their fans: I’ll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. It’s the fans fault?  Certainly not the fault of the terrible casting ...Click for More

Amazon Passes on Zombieland Pilot

May 16, 2013 // 1 Comment

Not like I can blame them much… Based on the content of my previous review, the pilot was awfully sub par (to say the least).  But I am moderately surprised about the pass seeing as there were other people out there in the interwebz who actually found something to enjoy about it.  Major networks pick up enough steaming heaps of garbage on a regular basis, so I half-expected a near immediate series order of it. After further thought in the days after watching/reviewing, it’s almost ...Click for More

AOL Wants in the Original Series Game

May 5, 2013 // 2 Comments

The success that Netflix has been having with their original series offerings has caused other internet companies to want to get in the game.  We reported last week about Yahoo putting out six of their own shows and Amazon has also joined the original streaming content fray with twelve pilot episodes that have been posted for viewers to vote on.  With all these companies producing their own content, we now find out that AOL wants in the original series ...Click for More
