Reading Rainbow Update Video

May 29, 2014 // 0 Comments

We posted a couple of times yesterday about the amazing things going on at the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter campaign. They started the campaign yesterday with the hope of raising $1 million dollars n 35 days. They did it in 12 hours. Last night, LaVar Burton’s business partner Mark Wolfe posted an update to their Kickstarter site as they were approaching the $1 million dollar mark. Here is the video. Deadbeat Is A Hulu Original

May 22, 2014 // 0 Comments

As you know, the writers here at MWTVG all have day jobs and as such don’t always know exactly what’s going on in TV land.  Plus, there’s literally 9,000 different outlets that are all creating original content (I may have used literally wrong). All I’m saying is that it’s hard to keep up with new shows. Add to it that we’ve reached the point of the season where most of the shows have wrapped for the year.  The networks are doing salutes to the troops and ...Click for More

Orange is the New Black Renewed for Season 3

May 6, 2014 // 0 Comments

Netflix continues to make news with their own original productions. House of Cards has completely hit it out of the park and is one of the best shows available on a TV screen. While not as good, Orange is the New Black still has been a success for Netflix enough to the point that they have decided to renew Orange for a 3rd season before season 2 has even premiered. I watched season 1 of OITNB and had mixed feelings about the show. Overall I thought it was pretty good. There are plenty of ...Click for More

Short Poppies on Netflix

April 28, 2014 // 0 Comments

We are big fans of some of the original programming on Netflix. House of Cards for instance, is one of the best shows on TV, broadcast or internet. Hemlock Grove received very positive critical response as well showing that Netflix can make shows that compete with the big boys. I was listening to Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist podcast  today with his guest Rhys Darby. If you don’t know that name, you would probably recognize him as the guy you think is Australian but is actually a Kiwi ...Click for More

Orange is the New Black Season 2 Trailer

April 17, 2014 // 1 Comment

Netflix has been pretty successful with their shows in the last couple of years. They are starting to compete with the big boys when it comes to putting out quality TV. The best show they have, House of Cards, is one of the best shows on all of TV. Their 2nd best show, Orange is the New Black, had a very strong first season and is getting ready to come back for season 2. Netflix has just released the Orange is the New Black season 2 trailer and if this trailer is any indication of what season 2 ...Click for More

House of Cards Season 2 Review

February 17, 2014 // 0 Comments

House of Cards season 2 was released by Netflix on Friday. In true binge-watching fashion, I have burned through all 13 episodes of season 2 over the weekend because when it comes to House of Cards, it’s nearly impossible to just watch 1 episode. If you haven’t watched any of season 2 yet, don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil anything for you. I think what happens in this season has got to be experienced by the fans to truly get the impact. Reading about it here would not ...Click for More

Midwest Mark’s 5 Worst of 2013

January 1, 2014 // 0 Comments

To provide a bit of counterbalance to last week’s Best of 2013 post, here are my picks for the 5 worst of 2013.  I make a point to not watch a ton of bad TV, but every now and again a bad show slips through to offend my better sensibilities.  This year included a couple of bad new shows and a few continuing series that continue to decline in quality. MTV’s BUCKWILD would probably take the cake for worst show I’ve ever seen in my entire life, but that is too easy and I ...Click for More

First Post for Our European Fans

December 16, 2013 // 0 Comments

We are three guys from the Midwestern United States (Chicago) who have been doing this for just over a year now. What continually shocks us is the number of people who come to our site from not only outside of Chicago, but from outside the US. 41% of our visitors come from overseas so it’s high time we recognize that and do something for our European fans. So here it is. In news that will only affect our European fans, the Breaking Bad spin off Better Call Saul, will air exclusively on ...Click for More

Netflix Says Binge Watching is Here to Stay

December 14, 2013 // 0 Comments

You’ve probably heard the term “binge watching” lately. It refers to someone sitting down and watching an entire season of a TV show in one sitting. The term was an attempt by the TV networks to cast internet studios like Netflix in a bad light. Netflix recently commissioned a survey of their users to find out if binge watching was really the problem the archaic TV studios were making it out to be. What they found out was ...Click for More

House of Cards Season 2 Premiere on February 14

December 4, 2013 // 1 Comment

Great news! We finally have a premiere date for one of the best shows on TV. The House of Cards season 2 premiere will be on February 14 on Netflix. Netflix released a teaser trailer to remind us all why we love this show so much and to get us excited for the Valentine’s Day premiere:   All 13 episodes of House of Cards will be available when season 2 is released on Netflix so instead of going out for an overpriced dinner served by servers who don’t have enough seniority to get ...Click for More

Midwest Mike’s People’s Choice Awards Votes 2014

November 10, 2013 // 0 Comments

To write a blog you have to be an incredible narcissist. I’m not only an incredible narcissist, I’m a fantastic one. Because that is true, I feel that you all are waiting on pins and needles to find out who will get my votes for a People’s Choice Award. Trust me, I am aware of the heavy burden that I carry knowing so many people will base their votes, and their lives, on what I think and say. This is why I have really taken my time and spent about 10 entire minutes to run ...Click for More

Bad Lip Reading – Game of Thrones

October 16, 2013 // 0 Comments

On the ‘funny scale’ of 1-10, Bad Lip Reading videos would be about a 99.  They have taken on pretty much everything from television to movies to sports to politics and it’s all lip-reading gone wrong.  The best part is that it’s so well done and accurate as hell, sometimes you totally forget that it’s being overdubbed. Take one good thing and mash it up with another, and you get “Medieval Land Fun-Time World”, a faux movie trailer made from GAME OF ...Click for More

Arrested Development Movie First

August 27, 2013 // 0 Comments

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz has confirmed that there will be an Arrested Development movie first before season 5 airs on Netflix. Season 4 ended with a pretty big cliff hanger which was quite a risk since no one knew for sure how the Netflix Arrested Development experiment would turn out.  Remember that Arrested Development had been off the air for 7 years before it was brought back by Netflix so even though there was a huge amount of cult support (mostly by me), no one was sure ...Click for More

Bryan Cranston Takes Over Adam Carolla’s Movie

August 8, 2013 // 3 Comments

I posted earlier about a “feud” between Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon and since that is so funny, I want to clue you in to another celebrity “feud” that has taken a funny turn. Comedian Adam Carolla, who you may remember from Love Line, has been doing a very funny podcast since 2009 (it’s the Guinness record holder for most downloaded podcast in the world BTW). Anyway, back in July, Carolla kicked off a Fund Anything (think Kickstarter without the pretension) ...Click for More
