The final 8 episodes of Breaking Bad premiered last night to the best ratings in the history of the show. 5.9 million viewers tuned in to the premiere on Sunday which is a 102% increase over last season’s premiere which drew 2.9 million viewers.
The Breaking Bad premiere also turned in to a Twitter phenomenon on Sunday night with nearly 760,000 tweets sent during the show. At it’s peak, there were 11,800 tweets per minute about Breaking Bad during the episode.
The ratings for Breaking Bad on Sunday put the show behind only The Walking Dead in terms of total viewers giving AMC the top two dramas in all of cable among adults aged 18 to 49.
With just 7 episodes left, expect the Breaking Bad train to keep rolling along. The ratings will continue to stay strong through the rest of the series. I’m sure AMC is thinking hard about whether or not to green light the possible Breaking Bad spin off.
